The Organization of Collections and Evidence Services assures the registration and preservation of quantitative and value data – globally and individually – regarding the fund of documents, available at the Headquarters of the “Carol I” Central University Library in Bucharest and the organizing of publication collections from the storage facilities and reading rooms of the Headquarters. A priority of the department’s activity is the retrospective processing of documents from the library funds and their systematic deselection, in order to provide users with access to a collection of current publications, in accordance with their information requirements.

The specific activities of the department are: creating all types of library records, selecting documents not reflected in the database and their retrospective processing, defining, editing and printing of the barcode and quota labels for both the Headquarters and the branch library documents, preparing the new items lists by field and record statistics of publications in the Headquarters, according to the document type, and to the value-oriented and numerical criteria.

The Collection Processing and Administration Compartment of the  “I. C. Petrescu” Pedagogical Section, subordinated to Organization of Collections and Evidence Services has the following main activities: the retrospective processing of publications from the  “I. C. Petrescu” Pedagogical Section, the registration and preservation of quantitative and value data – globally and individually – regarding the size, composition and dynamics of the document fund, available at the “I. C. Petrescu” Pedagogical Section.

The specific activities are the following: making the selection of Romanian and foreign documents, from the collection of the “I. C. Petrescu” Pedagogical Section, depending on the degree of physical or moral depreciation, approved by the Deselection Commission, checking publications in the inventory books and in the topographic catalogue; preparing the transfer reports; making lists of publications for scrapping, and operating removals from collections in evidence instruments.
