The Collection Development Services aims at the selective development of the collections of the „Carol I” Central University Library in Bucharest, ensuring the balanced information coverage of the main fields of knowledge with documents of all types, Romanian and foreign alike, with the exception of serial publications.

The purpose of the Collection Development Services is to purchase all kinds of documents, regardless of their support, safe for serial publications, representing necessary information resources to support curricula and research.

The development of document collections is carried out on the basis of the Collection Development Strategy, which is periodically updated every 5 years and of the annual plans for the development of collections.

The acquisition, both current and retrospective, is carried out in a centralized manner for the Headquarters and the branch libraries of the University of Bucharest, following the information and selection activities, the actual acquisition of documents being made through direct purchase, donation, interlibrary exchange or transfer.
