“I.C. Petrescu” Pedagogical Section participates in specialization programs of the teaching staff belonging to preschool, primary, secondary, high school and post-secondary education and provides methodological guidance for the libraries of the Teaching Staff Houses and for the school libraries in Bucharest and in the country.
The Loan Center of the “I.C. Petrescu” Pedagogical Section ensures the following:
- direct loan for teachers/professors from pre-university and university education, the researchers from the network of the Ministry of Education and doctoral students, from Bucharest and from the country;
- the national interlibrary loan of publications for users of libraries and information and documentation centers in pre-university education in Bucharest and in throughout the country. Publications lent to other libraries in the country are consulted by their users only in reading rooms.
DOCUMENTS IN OPEN ACCESS
The reading rooms of the Pedagogical Section have a collection of over 5,500 volumes (books, periodicals, audiovisual materials) in the fields of Pedagogy, Psychology, Education and Educational Sciences, along with reference materials (dictionaries, encyclopedias, guides, atlases, albums, etc.) and an American book collection (donated by the US Embassy in Bucharest to the former “IC Petrescu” National Pedagogical Library as part of the “American Corner” project).
The two reading rooms – 6 (“C. Rădulescu-Motru” Hall) and 7 (“Simion Mehedinţi” Hall) have 40 seats each.
The “I.C. Petrescu” Pedagogical Section also owns an important collection of old and rare books managed and capitalized by the Bibliophilia Service of the “Carol I” Central University Library The collection of bibliophile books and manuscripts is available to researchers, teachers/prodessors, doctoral students and students who develop undergraduate papers or for conducting special seminars, under the conditions provided in art. 59 (c – f) of the Regulation on the organization and functioning of the “Carol I” Central University Library

The Loan Center of the Pedagogical Section provides users with a collection of over 25,000 volumes in all fields of knowledge (Education and Educational Sciences, Literature, Linguistics, Law, Sociology, Philosophy, History, Geography, Mathematics, Politics, Economics, Management, Marketing, Communication and Public Relations, Librarianship, Business, Culture and Civilization, etc.).
The right to borrow belongs to the teaching staff in pre-university and university education, researchers in the network of the Ministry of Education and doctoral students.
Publications of the Loan Center of the “I.C. Petrescu” Pedagogical Section can be found in the online catalog of the “Carol I” Central University Headquarters under code BU26, with the final code CI (book intended for loan).
